The Institute

WHO WE ARE

The Park Institute of America is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that seeks to maintain the integrity and vibrancy of America’s parks and ensure that the country’s valuable cultural and environmental resources endure.

Leveraging its network of National Park Service (NPS) alumni, other federal, state, and local park practitioners, and representatives from academia, business, and other cross-sector stakeholders, the Institute seeks to foster cohesion in strategically building the parks movement among the constellation of key players and interest groups.

We champion parks and protected areas by increasing understanding through education, enhancing the exchange of ideas, and building momentum through partnerships.

WHAT WE DO

The Institute is a new organization with a big vision – and a vast network of leaders and resources that helps us deliver on our mission. Our efforts are focused on four key strategies:

  1. Communicate the values of parks to different sectors of society

  2. Promote partnership models that build support from new audiences

  3. Develop career pathways for a strong and diverse conservation workforce

  4. Drive innovative research on sustainable park access and collaborative conservation
